An Exerpt From The Vade Mecum
The accepted history of the world in the Time of Renewal
In the beginning, the deep magic breathed.
It was unbound and unguided and drew to itself mass and space but that mass and space was without shape and without life. And Sivar saw as it grew and he drew the attention of his father MaKar, the great God of creation, to it. And MaKar saw it and saw that it could be good. And MaKar reached out and touched the deep magic, breathing many worlds of experience into it to shape its creation and Haviar was formed.

And the world was broad and wide but the magic was powerful and began to burn the lands. And MaKar shaped the Races as a place for the magic to fill and gave them dominion over each element of Haviar.
For the Sirens, the deep waters.
For the Illutari, the world below the crust.
For the Faerie, the air and all things above the crust.
And as his guardians to watch the world, MaKar brought the dragons whom he called the Dragae. But MaKar was drawn to create other worlds and so he placed his only son, Sivar, to stand over the world and see that it flourished. And Sivar saw that the world was good and vast and had a great future. And Sivar quested of his father to grant him two companions to fill the world with great creatures and MaKar acquiesced. And Arin and Kyna sprang from the magical core. And the two were made to be like gods over the world and the three reigned in peace and balance. And Kyna crafted the hippocampoi for the sirens and the pixies to own the forests. And Arin drew the rhazoure for the mountains and the zor for the air. And Sivar and his companions made the creatures that roamed the crust to fill the plains and the coasts and the forests and the mountains.
But the world was not balanced and the gods began to draw the magic to themselves to craft a Race of the crust. They gave no thought for each other, drawing power with no respect to the other. And the lesser gods would not listen to Sivar in their fight for supremacy and the son called the father to stand over them all. And MaKar saw that one more Race was needed. And he thought deeply and drew Humanity forward from the ethos. And to humans, he gave dominion over the crust itself. To Humanity, he granted a greater power than magic: control of the flow of magic between the gods with their every action.
And at Sivar's request, as a last act to balance the gods, he drew forth an entire hall of gods, of equal power to Kyna and Arin, to bring everything Humanity would need to thrive.
And the Age of Creation came to a close and the Age of Balance began.
And as the Age of Balance drew on, it was Sivar who first saw that the humans were like unto children, in need of guidance and wisdom. It was Sivar who brought the wisdom of the ages to Humanity, who granted the knowledge to build the cities that cultivated their advancement. And Sivar saw that Humanity grew hampered by the lack of magic and he reached into the ethos between the worlds and drew the genii into this world. And with a mighty upheave, he bound the creatures of magic to the humans who captured them that humans might weild magic through their servants.
But the lesser gods grew jealous of humanity's care for Sivar, and Kyna the temptress whispered in the ears of the lesser gods, turning them from Sivar's guidance and the Races against the great God's son and against humanity itself. The one-time peaceful Races turned their magic against those on the crust and Humanity fled at their approach. Afraid to call MaKar to return and risk his wrath falling on the humans and magical Races alike, Sivar in desperation to protect the people of Haviar, cracked open the crust and magic poured forth in the black clad zeerk. Untamed and bred for war, the zeerk spread across the continent to engage the war-like Races and distract them from the people.

The war built to a fury. The Races battled for supremacy with the zeerk. Humanity bore the brunt and a great number of those on the crust departed for Morthain's halls in the underworld.
And Sivar saw that the world was on the brink of despair. With little hope left, the great God's son called together the hall of gods he had been granted as helpmates and begged them to withdraw from their anger. But their hearts were hard and jealousy not so easily assuaged. And Sivar, out of a great love for the people of his world, laid his own life on the table if the lesser gods would only agree to bind the Races to their domains. And the gods, filled with greed and fury, saw a path to dispose of the great God's son and agreed.
But Sivar was no fool.
As he gave up his soul, so too the lesser gods lost their ability to hold corporeal form and the time of gods faded.
And MaKar saw what had happened and mourned. Unable to undo his son's bargain, he gave what he could and Sivar was returned to the world in human form, ever to live and die among the humans, and to be reborn again to teach the ways of life.
And the times of war faded to the mists of memory and the Age of Discord came to a close. The Time of Renewal began.
